Harry McAlister

Harry McAlister is the Founder and CEO of Oxford University spinout OxCO and co-founder of The Nuclear Challenge. As a lifelong entrepreneur he leverages his expertise in social media and video strategies to drive global communications campaigns. His pioneering work on vitamin D reached tens of millions across 150 countries in 15 languages, playing a central role in the popularisation of Vitamin D amongst the general public. He has collaborated with global leaders like The World Bank, Princeton, OECD, London School of Economics, and the University of Oxford. Harry’s passion for nuclear advocacy stems from its potential to transform health, economy, and environment, making complex science accessible and inspiring widespread adoption of clean nuclear solutions.

Oxford University Innovation

Oxford University Innovation (OUI) is the University of Oxford’s dedicated engine for transforming groundbreaking research into real-world impact, serving as its wholly-owned subsidiary for technology transfer and commercialization since its establishment. By nurturing spinouts, securing investments, and forging industry partnerships, OUI has propelled innovations that harness nuclear advancements for global decarbonization. Empowering Oxford’s world-class scientists to bridge academia and enterprise, OUI fuels the clean energy revolution, turning bold ideas into scalable technologies that secure a greener, more innovative tomorrow.

Supporters of Nuclear Energy (SONE)

Founded in 1998, the Supporters of Nuclear Energy (SONE) is a UK-based advocacy group dedicated to championing nuclear power as a cornerstone of sustainable, secure energy for the future. Through informed campaigns, educational resources like the SONE Nuclear Glossary, and grassroots engagement, SONE debunks myths, fosters public confidence, and urges policymakers to prioritize nuclear’s clean, reliable benefits—addressing climate challenges while safeguarding economic prosperity and environmental health. Independently funded by diverse members from all walks of life, SONE drives the vital conversation that positions nuclear energy as essential for a thriving, low-carbon Britain.

Baroness Olivia Bloomfield of Hinton Waldrist

Baroness Olivia Bloomfield is a Welsh Conservative life peer in the House of Lords, serving as Shadow Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Wales since 2024. With a background in finance and energy infrastructure, she worked as a partner at Atlantic Superconnection Corporation from 2010 to 2016, championing low-carbon solutions through innovative interconnectors like the proposed Iceland-UK electricity cable. A strong advocate for advanced nuclear technologies, she has supported U.S.-based small modular reactor pioneer Terrestrial Energy, highlighting nuclear’s role in secure, sustainable energy for the UK. Educated at Oxford in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, she brings decades of political and fundraising expertise to drive forward-thinking energy policies that prioritize reliability and net-zero goals.

Michelle Leslie

Michelle Leslie is a Senior Manager in Infrastructure and Capital Projects at Deloitte, with deep expertise in nuclear energy policy, communications, and sustainability. Formerly Communications Officer at the Canadian Nuclear Association, she advised on climate change strategies, leading delegations to international forums on nuclear’s environmental benefits and participating in high-level events like the Canada-UK Nuclear Energy Day and OECD-NEA workshops on small modular reactors (SMRs). As a Fellow at the Canadian Global Affairs Institute and adjunct professor, she educates on nuclear’s role in global decarbonization and energy security. Michelle’s work bridges industry, government, and academia to amplify nuclear’s proven track record in delivering clean, reliable power for a sustainable world.

Professor Wade Allison

Professor Wade Allison is an Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of Oxford and a leading voice in nuclear physics and radiation safety. His pioneering research in particle physics at CERN and medical applications of ionizing radiation has informed global standards on radiation’s minimal risks, debunking fears amplified by incidents like Chernobyl and Fukushima. Author of Radiation and Reason (2009) and Nuclear is for Life (2015), he argues passionately for nuclear energy as a safe, essential tool for combating climate change, having lectured worldwide—including to Japanese communities post-Fukushima—to shift public perception. As a Fellow of Keble College, Professor Allison continues to educate policymakers and the public on why embracing nuclear power is vital for a low-carbon future.

Harry McAlister

COO and Video Director

Harry studied Politics and International Development at the University of Leeds (BA) before training as a journalist (NCTJ) at News Associates in London. It was here that he founded his first company, Ample Video: a cloud-based video production platform leveraging open innovation, crowd sourcing and mass networks to provide video content to hundreds of organisations worldwide.

His interest in scientific research led him to start Ample Education in 2020: a video production company specialising in creating engaging academic multimedia content.

Harry’s deep interests in science, philosophy, and systems thinking have driven him to co-create OxCo as a new framework for digital cooperation, advancing our collective capacity to learn, connect, and collaborate.
